Chilka Lake: Chilka Lake is a brackish water lagoon, spread over the Puri, Khurda and Ganjam districts of Odisha state on the east coast of India, at the mouth of the Daya River, flowing into the Bay of Bengal. It is the largest coastal lagoon in India and the second largest lagoon in the World. It is the largest wintering ground for migratory birds on the Indian sub-continent. The lake is home to a number of threatened species of plants and animals. The lake is an ecosystem with large fishery resources. It sustains more than 150,000 fisher folk living in 132 villages on the shore and islands. |
Pipili: Pipili is a town and a notified area committee under jurisdiction of Puri district in the Indian state of Odisha. It is famous for designing beautiful Applique handicrafts. Goddess Ramachandi, the deity of Konark is thought by some to be the presiding deity of this temple, while others thought it to be the temple of Mayadevi, wife of Surya (Sun God). |
Chandrabhaga: At about 3 kms from the Sun Temple at Konark is the Chandrabhaga beach. The strong currents do not make it either safe or easy for swimming. But the picturesque view of the sunrise and sunset at this place is enchanting. For tourists can be availed at Konark, which is just 2km away from Chandrabhaga beach. Satapada at Chilika: Satapada is a lovely attraction for lovers of waves and surf and the unending waters stretching to the horizon. Just 50 km from Puri town it is a virtual paradise. The sea is crystal blue and sand is spotless, glistening white and the casuarinas jungles dotting the waters of Chilika Lakes takes ones breath away. Satapada, alternatively spelt as Satapada, is one of the most popular tourist place of Odisha. Here Dolphins and the scenic Sea Mouth attract large number of tourist throughout the year. Though Satapada is not very famous for migratory birds but visitors may find different varieties of migratory birds here because the famous Nalabana bird sanctuary is very near to Satapada.
